The CERARICA Concept

Our dream

our dreamCERARICA NODA’s main products are the waxes of life that are produced by plants and animals. The word "wax" usually brings to mind the products used on floors and automobiles; these are synthetic and petroleum-based substances, so people tend to dislike them because they are unhealthful or damaging. But wax has actually held an important place in our lives since ancient times.

For example, around 4200B.C. the ancient Egyptians used the wax taken from beehives to preserve mummies, to make carvings, and for blackboards. In Rome, beeswax was used in Holy Candles at Catholic festivals, and to preserve and repair famous paintings.

In Japan the Taiho Code of laws of 710 A.D. prescribed the cultivation of wax trees from which a vegetable wax was extracted. Japan is the only country that practiced full-scale cultivation of these trees, so that later the people of other countries called such wax "Japan wax". In those days this wax was used for candles, pomade, and women’s hairdressing, but beginning in the Kamakura period (12th century) it was used in medicinal salves and to bring out the luster in silk textiles; in this and other ways it found increasing usage throughout the passage of human history.
These natural plant and animal waxes include those from forests (vegetable waxes, candelilla wax, carnauba wax, rice bran wax), insects (beeswax), animals (lanolin), and others.
These offer excellent safety, natural recyclability, and functional characteristics not possessed by synthetic or petroleum-based waxes. For this reason they now find uses in electronic office equipment and other information processing technologies, and in a variety of advanced technologies.
